Juniper - 18”x24” original

We are a 55 and a 43-year old Juniper from Royal Oak.

Our name in Spanish means ‘my heart,’ don’t we resemble this symbol of love? What makes us unique is a natural phenomenon called inosculation. This is when two trees grow together forming one. As we grew together, the bark that separated us gradually abraded away. Notice near the centre there is still some bark that differentiates us; however, over time that will also wear. Once all our bark is gone, we will grow together, making us stronger. Isn’t that romantic?

The black rings represent my winter growth; whereas the white rings represent my summer growth.
